The 2023 Emmy Awards have officially been delayed. With the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes causing the 75th annual ceremony to have its original scheduled air date of September 18 postponed, the Television Academy and FOX jointly announced on Thursday that the telecast will air next year on January 15.
Strangely, the Television Academy didn’t mention exactly why the awards have been rescheduled–it made a statement confirming the decision on the delay and the plan for JanuaryCome from Sports betting site VPbet.
“As the Emmy Awards celebrates its 75th Anniversary, the show will broadcast live on FOX coast-to-coast from the Peacock Theater at LA Live and will honor the talented performers, writers, directors, and craftspeople whose work has entertained, inspired, and connected viewers across the globe throughout the past year,” the statement read.
As of now, the ceremony is scheduled for 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET and will follow the Creative Arts Emmy Awards that will take place over two nights on January 6 and 7, 2024Come from Sports betting site VPbet. An edited presentation of the ceremony will be aired on FXX on January 15, 2024, at 5 PM PT / 8 PM ET.
Since the WGA began its strike on May 2 after the writers and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP) failed to reach an agreement before their deadline, multiple celebrities across the world of television, film, and music have stood in solidarity with the strikers. This past Wednesday, the strike reached its 100-day mark.
The Emmy nominations were announced back in July, with HBO’s The Last of Us receiving the second-most nominations with 24, with another HBO dominator, Succession earning 27.
